ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a contemporary Indian artist, born in 1964 and based in Calicut. My artistic practice is deeply rooted in humanism and ecology. In my early works, I explored humanist ideas, focusing on the dignity, struggles, and lived experiences of marginalized communities.
Over time, my artistic journey evolved towards environmental consciousness, examining the complex and intimate relationship between human life and nature.
One of my notable series, “The World Tunes to Nature,” brings together inspirations from both Western and Eastern philosophers and poets who viewed nature as a source of spiritual wisdom. Selected works from this series were exhibited at Agora Gallery, New York.
Later, I developed a body of work with a more open and interpretative approach, including pieces such as Upostesy, Song of Gypsies, Signs of Love, and One Falling on the Peace. These works were showcased at the NIV Art Centre, New Delhi.
Another significant series, “Dravidia,” explores the cultural and spiritual connection between indigenous communities and Mother Earth. It highlights their traditions while reflecting on the impact of rapid modernization. This series was exhibited at the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Art Gallery, Calicut.
My recent works focus on the symbolic interplay between femininity and nature, presenting womanhood and the environment as interconnected forces of creation and transformation. Ultimately, my art seeks to express spiritual connection, uphold human values, and affirm the essence of life.
